Stand Up Paddling

SUP? You have seen it on a lake, bay or sound by now, but did you know it is a great way to explore our mountain lakes and rivers? CNN came up a year ago to do special segment on people doing this on whitewater and those people were us! We have everything from one-on-one instructional whitewater SUP lessons to large group lake paddles. Our instructors (professional  SUP athletes) have the ability to teach river surfing, downriver running, and flat water fitness paddling.

Our river running trips and lessons typically start on the Holston River or French Broad River (Biltmore Section) depending on your location and needs. These rivers allow you to get familiar with moving water, currents, small wave trains, catching big easy eddies as well as making small necessary moves while navigating in a small current. The next step is to move to a section like the Lower Nolichucky, Watauga or Section 8 of the French Broad. These sections provide what was previously mentioned but with more current and more obstacles to navigate. Perfect for those with plenty of flat water experience and looking to try moving water with some challenges.
